The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Woe to the defrauders, 1 Who insist on being given full when they take from others, 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 for a great Day, 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? 8 it is a written record. 9 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 10 Those who deny the Day of Judgment 11 None denies it but the sinful transgressors. 12 When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' 13 No indeed! The truth is that their hearts have become rusted on account of their evil deeds. 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 They will suffer the heat of fire 16 Then it will be said: 'this is that which ye were wont to belie.' 17 No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; 18 Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - 19 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 20 Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allah]. 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 On couches, gazing, 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: 25 With a sealing of musk, which those who aspire for the best should desire, -- 26 With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim: 27 a fountain at which do drink those brought nigh. 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 and when they saw them, they said [scornfully], "These men have surely gone astray," 32 though they were not sent to be their keepers -- 33 But on the Day [of Judgment,] they who had attained to faith will [be able to] laugh at the [erstwhile] deniers of the truth: 34 while reclining on couches and reviewing (the bounties given to them). 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
