The Sun (Al-Shams)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the sun and his morning brightness 1 And the moon when it follows the sun, 2 And by oath of the day when it reveals it 3 By the night when it envelopeth it, 4 By the heaven and That which built it 5 By the earth and Him Who spread it forth, 6 And [by] the soul and He who proportioned it 7 Then He showed him what is wrong for him and what is right for him; 8 prosperous is he who purified it, 9 And he will indeed fail who corrupts it. 10 In their presumptuous insolence the Thamud called the Truth a lie 11 When the most wicked among them stood up in defiance. 12 Then the apostle of Allah said unto them: beware of the she-camel of Allah and her drink. 13 However, they rejected him and slew her. So their Lord completely destroyed them and their city for their sins. 14 And He does not fear its coming behind (to take vengeance). 15
