And when the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: Lo! ye are folk unknown (to me). 62 They said: "Yea, we have come to thee to accomplish that of which they doubt. 63 And bring thee the Truth, and lo! we are truth-tellers. 64 Leave the town with your family sometime during the night. Walk behind them and let no one turn around. Proceed as you are commanded." 65 And We decreed unto him this commandment because the last of those was to be cut off in the early morning. 66 And there came the people of the city rejoicing 67 He said, “These are my guests – do not dishonour me.” 68 “And fear Allah and do not disgrace me.” 69 They (people of the city) said: "Did we not forbid you to entertain (or protect) any of the 'Alamin (people, foreigners, strangers, etc. from us)?" 70 He said: These are my daughters, if you will do (aught). 71 By your life, (O Prophet), they went about blindly stumbling in their intoxication. 72 Then the shout took hold of them at the sunrise. 73 We turned the town upside-down and showered on them lumps of baked clay. 74 Indeed in that are signs for those who discern. 75 The place (where this occurred) lies along a known route. 76 Indeed in this are signs for the believers. 77 And the Companions of the Wood were also wrong-doers; 78 and so We inflicted Our retribution on them.
