Thamood, belied their Messengers. 141 When their brother Salih said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 142 I am for you a faithful Messenger, 143 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 144 I do not ask any recompense of you for this. My reward is due from none but the Lord of all the worlds. 145 Do you believe that you will be left here to live securely in the present state 146 Within gardens and springs 147 “And fields and palm-trees, with delicate tendrils?” 148 "And ye carve houses out of (rocky) mountains with great skill. 149 Have fear of God and obey me. 150 Do not obey the order of the wasteful, 151 Who cause corruption in the land and do not amend." 152 They said, "You are only bewitched and insane. 153 You are nothing but a man like us. Bring us a token if you speak the truth." 154 He said, "This is a she-camel. She will have her share of water as you have your share, each on a certain day. 155 And touch her not with ill, lest there take hold of you the torment of a Mighty Day. 156 But they cruelly slaughtered her - and then they had cause to regret it: 157 and the chastisement seized them. Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 158 Your Lord, He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 159
