The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the mount. 1 And [by] a Book inscribed 2 On an open record. 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 and by the lofty vault of the sky, 5 And [by] the sea filled [with fire], 6 The punishment of your Lord is certain to come. 7 there is none to avert it. 8 On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion 9 And the mountains shall pass away passing away (altogether). 10 So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth), 11 Who are playing in falsehood. 12 The day on which they shall be driven away to the fire of hell with violence. 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 [Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do." 16 Surely the God-fearing shall be in Gardens and bliss, 17 enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire. 18 They will be told, "Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done". 19 reclining on couches [of happiness] ranged in rows!" And [in that paradise] We shall mate them with companions pure, most beautiful of eye. 20 And those who believed, and their seed followed them in belief, We shall join their seed with them, and We shall not defraud them of aught of their work; every man shall be pledged for what he earned. 21 And We will aid them with fruit and flesh such as they desire. 22 They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin. 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 And they will advance unto each other asking questions. 25 Saying: "We were also once full of fear at home. 26 Then Allah graced us with His favour and saved us from the chastisement of the scorching wind. 27 Verily, we did invoke Him [alone] ere this: [and now He has shown us] that He alone is truly benign, a true dispenser of grace!" 28
