The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Yes indeed, man is surely rebellious. 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah) 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
