AND, BEHOLD, Jonah was indeed one of Our message-bearers 139 He abandoned his people 140 So he shared (with them), but was of those who are cast off. 141 Then a fish swallowed him, and he was blameworthy. 142 Now had he not been of those that glorify God, 143 He would certainly have tarried in its belly to the day when they are raised. 144 ۞ But We threw him onto the open shore while he was ill. 145 We made a plant of gourd grow up for him. 146 And We sent him to [his people of] a hundred thousand or more. 147 and [this time] they believed [in him] and so We allowed them to enjoy their life during the time allotted to them? 148 Now ask them their opinion: Is it that thy Lord has (only) daughters, and they have sons?- 149 Did We create the angels as females the while they witnessed?” 150 Then is it of their lying that they say: 151 'God has begotten a son.' They are certainly liars. 152 Has He chosen daughters over sons? 153 What ails you then, how you judge? 154 Will ye not then receive admonition? 155 Or do you have a clear authority? 156 Then bring ye your Book (of authority) if ye be truthful! 157 They have said that there is a relationship between Him and the jinn. The jinn certainly know that they will all be brought to suffer torment. 158 (They say): “Exalted be Allah above what they attribute to Him, 159 except the servants of God, sincere and devoted. 160 Wherefore verily neither ye nor that which ye worship, 161 Ye cannot excite (anyone) against Him. 162 except him who shall roast in the Blazing Fire. 163 And the angels say, “Each one of us has an appointed known position.” 164 we are the rangers, 165 And we are most surely they who declare the glory (of Allah). 166 They used to say: 167 Had we but an admonition as had the ancients. 168 We would have been the chosen creatures of God." 169 But they disbelieve in it (the Koran), but soon they shall know! 170 And verily Our word went forth of old unto Our bondmen sent (to warn) 171 that they shall receive Our help 172 and that Our army will be triumphant. 173 So, (O Prophet), leave them alone for a while, 174 and see, and soon they too shall see. 175 What, do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 176 Then, when it descends into their courtyard (i.e. near to them), evil will be the morning for those who had been warned! 177 Stay away from them for a while 178 And watch; they will come to know soon. 179 Glorified be your Lord, the Lord of Honour and Power! (He is free) from what they attribute unto Him! 180 And peace be on the apostles. 181 and praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being. 182

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
