The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 And shade extended 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and fruits abounding 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 and upraised couches. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
