The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 And who glide with ease. 3 Then those who are foremost going ahead, 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 Upon the day when the first blast shivers 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 Eyes be lowered in submission. 9 They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" 19 Then Moses (went to Pharaoh and) showed him the Great Sign; 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 and hastily turned away, 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 Yet to a rich man, 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 Verily, in this is an instructive admonition for whosoever fears Allah. 26
