The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the Mount; 1 And the Scripture inscribed 2 On an open record. 3 by the Visited House, 4 By the Canopy Raised High; 5 Consider the surf-swollen sea! 6 Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;- 7 There is none that can avert it; 8 A day on which the heavens will shake with a visible shaking. 9 And the mountains will move with a visible movement. 10 Then woe that Day to the beliers; 11 Those who in wading sport themselves. 12 The Day when they will be pushed down by force to the Fire of Hell, with a horrible, forceful pushing. 13 "This:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny! 14 Is this magic or do you not see? 15 Taste you therein its heat, and whether you are patient of it or impatient of it, it is all the same. You are only being requited for what you used to do. 16 The pious will live in bountiful Paradise, 17 Happy because of what their Lord hath given them, and (because) their Lord hath warded off from them the torment of hell-fire. 18 “Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.” 19 (They shall be) reclining on couches ranged in rows and We shall wed them to houris (virgins of Paradise) with large wide eyes. 20 To those who have attained to faith We shall unite their offspring who have also followed them in faith, and We shall not let any of their good deeds go unrewarded; every human being is a pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 And We will aid them with fruit and flesh such as they desire. 22 while they pass therein a cup one to another wherein is no idle talk, no cause of sin, 23 ۞ And there go round, waiting on them menservants of their own, as they were hidden pearls. 24 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 25 Saying, “Indeed before this, we were in our houses, worried.” 26 Wherefore Allah hath obliged us, and hath protected us from the torment of the Scorch. 27 Verily we were wont to pray unto Him aforetime; verily He! it is He, the Benign, the Merciful. 28
