The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 About which they differ? 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 a fitting requital, 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
