The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By those (angels) who pull out (the souls of the disbelievers and the wicked) with great violence; 1 by the drawers (the angels of death), gently drawing (the souls of the believers), 2 by the angels who float (in the heavens by the will of God), 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 The second blowing of the Trumpet follows it (and everybody will be raised up), 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 even though we may have become [a heap of] crumbling bones?" 11 They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". 19 Moses showed him the great miracle 20 but he cried lies, and rebelled, 21 Then he quickly turned his back. 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
