He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 and in awe [of God] 9 you ignore him. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 Of what did He create him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 then the way eased for him, 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 laughing and joyous 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
