Al-Mutaffifeen
The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe to the defrauders, 1 Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full, 2 Whereas when they give others after measuring or weighing, they give them less! 3 Do those not think that they shall be raised up 4 On a mighty Day. 5 The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)? 6 By no means! Verily the record of the ungodly is in Sijjin. 7 Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! - 8 (It is) a marked Book. 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 who cry lies to the Day of Doom; 11 And none belieth it save each trespasser, sinner. 12 When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' 13 Nay! rather, what they used to do has become like rust upon their hearts. 14 Nay! Surely, they (evil-doers) will be veiled from seeing their Lord that Day. 15 Then most surely they shall enter the burning fire. 16 It will then be said, “This is what you used to deny.” 17 No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyun. 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 A written record, 20 witnessed by those who are near (to Allah). 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 On thrones, watching. 23 Thou wilt recognize in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They shall be given to drink of a wine that is sealed, 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 a wine tempered with the waters of Tasnim, 27 A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. 28 Behold, the sinners were laughing at the believers, 29 And when the believers used to pass by, they used to gesture at each other with their eyes. 30 And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. 31 And when they saw them, they said: "They have indeed gone astray." 32 Whereas they have not at all been sent as guardians over them. 33 So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers, 34 On high thrones, watching. 35 Have those who deny the truth [not] been paid back for their deeds? 36
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
