Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Sure Reality! 1 And what is that indubitable event? 2 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the reality is! 3 Thamood and Ad cried lies to the Clatterer. 4 But the Thamud,- they were destroyed by a terrible Storm of thunder and lightning! 5 and the 'Ad were destroyed by a furious wind 6 that He subjected upon them for seven nights and eight days consecutively and you might have seen them struck down as if they were the stumps of palm trees that had fallen down. 7 Do you see any trace of them? 8 Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, 9 and they rebelled against the Messenger of their Lord, and He seized them with a surpassing grip. 10 [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, 11 so that We might make all this a [lasting] reminder to you all, and that every wide-awake ear might consciously take it in. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound a single blast. 13 and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! 14 Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur, 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that Day it (the heaven will be frail (weak), and torn up, 16 and will turn frail, losing all force. The angels will be around the heavens and on that day eight of them will carry the Throne of your Lord above all the creatures. 17 On that Day you will be brought to judgement and none of your secrets will remain hidden. 18 Then as to him who will be vouchsafed his book in his right hand, he shall say: here! read my book! 19 “I was certain that I will confront my account.” 20 So he shall be in a life, well-pleasing. 21 in a lofty Garden, 22 With fruits hanging low within reach, 23 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past." 24 But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my record 25 "And that I had never realised how my account (stood)! 26 "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! 27 My riches have not availed me, 28 my authority is gone from me.' 29 (A command will be issued): “Seize him and shackle him, 30 and then roast him in Hell, 31 Fasten a chain to them - seventy cubits long - 32 Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, 33 "And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent! 34 So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend 35 Nor any food save filth 36 which only the sinners eat". 37
