By the moon 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 and the morning when it appears, 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 it is a warning to man, 36 To him among you who wishes to go forward or remain behind. 37 Every soul is mortgaged for its own deeds. 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 About the criminals, 41 'What thrusted you into Sakar?' 42 They will answer: "We were not among those who prayed; 43 "Nor were we of those who fed the indigent; 44 "And we used to talk falsehood (all that which Allah hated) with vain talkers. 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 until the Inevitable End [death] overtook us." 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 What aileth them, therefore, that they are from the admonition turning away? 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 Nay, verily. They fear not the Hereafter. 53 No!
