The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 And when the pages are made public 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 [on that Day] every human being will come to know what he has prepared [for himself]. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 Then where are you going? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
