The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
