The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Created man from a clot. 2 Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
توجد تمارين تحفيظ للوضعين العربي الأصلي والعربي المخطوط بأحرف إنجليزية فقط. ولا تحتوي الترجمة الإنجليزية على تمارين حفظ.
There are memorization exercises for the original Arabic and English transliterated Arabic modes only. The English translation mode has no memorization exercises.
