The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 And when the mountains are removed 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 And when the books are spread, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 Every soul will then come to know what it has brought. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 that hide, 16 The closing night, 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
