The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
