The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By oath of (mount) Tur. 1 By the book inscribed. 2 on wide-open scrolls. 3 And the House frequented, 4 Consider the vault [of heaven] raised high! 5 And the sea kept filled, 6 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; 7 There is none can avert it;- 8 On the Day whereon the heaven will shake with an awful shaking. 9 The mountains move and fly away, 10 Woe, then, on that Day to all who give the lie to the truth 11 and amuse themselves with vain argumentation. 12 On that Day when they shall be pitched into the Fire of Gehenna (Hell), 13 (it will be said to them): 'This is the Fire which you belied! 14 Is this magic? or ye still see not clearly! 15 Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” 16 Truly, the God-fearing will dwell [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire. 18 'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working. 19 They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith,- to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds. 21 We shall provide them with fruits and the meat of the kind which they desire. 22 They will exchange cups of wine free of (incitement to) pleasantry or sin. 23 ۞ And there go round, waiting on them menservants of their own, as they were hidden pearls. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 'When we were among our people' they will say, 'we were ever fearful, 26 but Allah has been gracious to us and has protected us from the punishment of the burning wind. 27 Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
