The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two]. 1 And if they behold a sign, they turn away and say: magic continuous 2 And deny, and follow their own vain desires; but every matter is determined at its time. 3 They have certainly received the kind of news in which there is a lesson and strong words of wisdom, 4 Consummate wisdom-- but warnings do not avail; 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 they will come forth from their graves, with their eyes downcast, [swarming about] like locusts scattered [by the wind,] 7 Hastening toward the summoner; the disbelievers say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ The people of Noah had denied before them, and had called Our votary a liar, and said: "He is possessed," and repulsed him. 9 Then he called upon His Lord: “Verily I am vanquished; so come You to my aid.” 10 So We opened the gates of heaven with water pouring forth. 11 And caused springs to gush out from the earth, so that the two waters met totalling a quantity that had been destined. 12 And We bore Noah on the vessel built of planks and nails, 13 Sailing under Our observation as reward for he who had been denied. 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 17 'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 18 We sent a raging wind against them on a day of continuous calamity. 19 and snatched people up as though they were stumps of uprooted palmtrees. 20 How was then My punishment and My commination! 21 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished! 22
