Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Inevitable Reality - 1 What is the Sure Reality? 2 And what will teach thee what is the Indubitable? 3 The Thamud and 'Ad denied the consequential calamity. 4 Thamood, they were destroyed by the violent shout (of Gabriel), 5 The Ads were destroyed by a swift, destructive gale 6 which He let loose upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession; so that (if you had been there) you might have seen people lying prostrate, as though they were uprooted trunks of hollowed palm trees. 7 Canst thou (O Muhammad) see any remnant of them? 8 Similarly, Pharaoh, and those before him, and the ruined villages, sinned 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. 10 Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship 11 as a lesson for you, but only attentive ears will retain it. 12 When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and then crushed with a single blow, 14 On that Day will come what is to come. 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for on that Day it will be so frail. 16 And the angels will be on the sides thereof, and eight will uphold the Throne of thy Lord that day, above them. 17 You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. 18 Now as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, he will exclaim: "Come you all!" Read this my record! 19 Behold, I did know that [one day] I would have to face my account! 20 Then he will be in blissful state 21 in an exalted garden 22 Clusters whereof shall be near at hand. 23 (They will be told): “Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for the good deeds you did in the days that have passed by.” 24 But whosoever gets his ledger in his left hand, will say: "Would that I were never given my ledger, 25 And had not known what is my account. 26 "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! 27 Of no use was even my wealth. 28 My authority is gone away from me. 29 (A command will be issued): “Seize him and shackle him, 30 And then expose him to hell-fire 31 And string him to a chain seventy cubits long. 32 "This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High. 33 Nor urged others to feed the poor. 34 That is why he has no friend today, 35 Nor food other than suppuration (filth) 36 which only the sinners will eat.” 37
