The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ They ask you about the spoils of war. Say, "They belong to God and His Messenger. So fear God, and set things right among yourselves, and obey God and His Messenger, if you are true believers: 1 Indeed the believers are those whose hearts quake at the mention of Allah, and when His verses are recited to them it increased them in faith. They are those who put their trust in their Lord. 2 those who perform the prayer, and expend of what We have provided them, 3 those in truth are the believers; they have degrees with their Lord, and forgiveness, and generous provision. 4 Even as your Lord caused you to go forth from your house with the truth, though a party of the believers were surely averse; 5 Disputing with thee respecting the right cause after it had become manifest, as though they were led forth unto death while they looked on. 6 Behold! Allah promised you one of the two (enemy) parties, that it should be yours: Ye wished that the one unarmed should be yours, but Allah willed to justify the Truth according to His words and to cut off the roots of the Unbelievers;- 7 So that Truth may be affirmed and falsehood negated, even though the sinners be averse. 8 When ye sought help of your Lord and He answered you (saying): I will help you with a thousand of the angels, rank on rank. 9 He gave you the good news only to reassure your hearts, for victory comes from God alone, and certainly God is all-mighty and all-wise. 10
