And certainly We delivered the children of Israel from the abasing chastisement, 30 They (had experienced) under the Pharaoh. He was certainly a tyrant, guilty of excess. 31 And We chose them (the Children of Israel) above the 'Alamin (mankind, and jinns) [during the time of Musa (Moses)] with knowledge, 32 and gave them signs wherein there was a manifest trial. 33 Verily, these (Quraish) people are saying: 34 "There is nothing but our first death, and we shall not be resurrected. 35 So bring our fathers [back], if what you say is true. 36 Are they, then, better than the people of Tubba and those before them, whom We destroyed because they were truly lost in [the same] sin? 37 It was not in play that We created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them. 38 We created them not except with truth (i.e. to examine and test those who are obedient and those who are disobedient and then reward the obedient ones and punish the disobedient ones), but most of them know not. 39 The Day of Decision is the appointed time for all. 40 the day a master shall avail nothing a client, and they shall not be helped, 41 Except those [believers] on whom Allah has mercy. Indeed, He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 42
