In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O you wrapped in garments (i.e. Prophet Muhammad SAW)! 1 rise (to pray) the night except a little; 2 Half of it,- or a little less, 3 Or a little more, and recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly. 4 For we shall charge thee with a word of weight. 5 Lo! the vigil of the night is (a time) when impression is more keen and speech more certain. 6 During the day, you are preoccupied with many activities. 7 And remember the name of your Lord and, leaving others, devote yourself solely to Him. 8 He is the only Lord, so choose Him as your guardian. 9 And have patience with what they say, and leave them with noble (dignity). 10 And let Me alone with the beliers, owners of ease: and respite thou them a little. 11 Surely with Us are heavy fetters and a flaming fire, 12 And a Food that chokes, and a Penalty Grievous. 13 On that day, the earth and the mountains will be violently shaken, and the mountains will be turned into heaps of moving sand. 14 We have sent you a Messenger, who will witness your deeds, just as We sent a Messenger to the Pharaoh. 15 But Pharoah rebelled against the messenger, so We seized him with a strong, crushing grip. 16 How, then, if you refuse to acknowledge the truth, will you protect yourselves on that Day which shall turn the hair of children grey, 17 Whereon the heaven will be cleft asunder? His Promise is certainly to be accomplished. 18 Verily this is a reminder. So let him who desires take the way to his Lord. 19
