The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 when earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 will be easy, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
