The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 and the day in splendour 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends). 4 Thus, as for him who gives [to others] and is conscious of God, 5 And accepts the best, 6 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss. 7 But he who does not give and is unconcerned, 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 It is indeed for Us to show the way, 12 And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. 13 So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 But save him who fears 17 who spend for the cause of God and purify themselves. 18 and owes no favour to anyone, which is to be repaid, 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
