Then when the sent ones entered unto the household of Lut. 61 He said: Lo! ye are folk unknown (to me). 62 They replied, "We have come to you about the matter which the (unbelievers) have rejected. 63 and we are bringing thee the certainty [of its fulfilment]: for, behold, we are speaking the truth indeed. 64 Leave the town with your family sometime during the night. Walk behind them and let no one turn around. Proceed as you are commanded." 65 We informed him that the unbelievers would be utterly destroyed. 66 The inhabitants of the city came in (mad) joy (at news of the young men). 67 Exclaimed [Lot]: "Behold, these are my guests: so put me not to shame, 68 And guard against (the punishment of) Allah and do not put me to shame. 69 They said: Have we not forbidden you from (other) people? 70 [Lot] said: "[Take instead] these daughters of mine, if you must do [whatever you intend to do]!" 71 By your life, (O Prophet), they went about blindly stumbling in their intoxication. 72 and the Cry seized them at the sunrise, 73 and turned the land upside down, and rained down stones of baked clay. 74 Surely! In this are signs, for those who see (or understand or learn the lessons from the Signs of Allah). 75 And indeed, those cities are [situated] on an established road. 76 In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the believers. 77 And the dwellers in the wood indeed were evil-doers. 78 We afflicted them with punishment. Both people had clear (divine) authority among them. 79
