The people of Lut belied the sent ones. 160 When their brother Lot said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 161 I am a trustworthy Messenger. 162 So fear Allah and obey me. 163 I seek of you no reward. My reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 164 Go ye in, of all creatures, unto the males? 165 And leave the wives your Lord created for you? Nay, but ye are froward folk. 166 'Lot' they replied, 'if you do not desist, you shall be thrown out' 167 He said: I am in truth of those who hate your conduct. 168 (And prayed:) "O Lord, save me and my family from what they do." 169 Then We delivered him and all his family 170 Save an old woman among the lingerers. 171 Then We utterly destroyed the others. 172 and rained down upon them a rain [of destruction]: and dire is such rain upon all who let themselves be warned [to no avail]! 173 In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 174 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 175
