Indeed this is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe; 192 the Faithful Spirit has brought it down 193 Upon your heart that you may be of the warners 194 in a clear, Arabic tongue. 195 And verily it is in the Scriptures of the ancients. 196 And was this not a sign for them, that the scholars of the Descendants of Israel may recognise this Prophet? 197 And had We sent it down upon a person other than an Arab, 198 So that he should have recited it to them, they would not have believed therein. 199 We have thus caused denial of truth to enter into the hearts of the sinners: 200 they shall not believe in it until they see the painful punishment 201 It shall come unto them on a sudden, and they shall not perceive. 202 and then they will exclaim, "Could we have a respite?" 203 So for Our punishment are they impatient? 204 Beholdest thou? if We let them enjoy for years. 205 And then the promise that is given to them, does come upon them- 206 (How) that wherewith they were contented naught availeth them? 207 We never destroyed any town without first sending to them warning and guidance. 208 To advise; and We never oppress. 209 It was not the satans who brought it down: 210 And it behoves them not, and they have not the power to do (it). 211 Verily far from hearing are they removed. 212 Therefor invoke not with Allah another god, lest thou be one of the doomed. 213 And warn your near relations, 214 and be meek to the believers who follow you. 215 Then if they disobey you say to them: "I am quit of what you do." 216 and place thy trust in the Almighty, the Dispenser of Grace, 217 Who observes you when you rise (to pray) 218 And your movements among those who fall prostrate (along with you to Allah in the five compulsory congregational prayers). 219 He is All-hearing and All-knowing." 220 Shall I tell you on whom the satans descend? 221 They descend on every guilty impostor. 222 They listen eagerly, but most of them are liars. 223 As for poets, only the wayward follow them. 224 Did you not see that they keep wandering in every valley? 225 and that they [so often] say what they do not do [or feel]? 226 Except those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism), and do righteous deeds, and remember Allah much, and reply back (in poetry) to the unjust poetry (which the pagan poets utter against the Muslims). And those who do wrong will come to know by what overturning they will be overturned. 227
