Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhammad) wrapped, 1 worship (God) for a few hours at night. 2 Half of it, or lessen it a little, 3 or a little more; and with recitation, recite the Koran. 4 Behold, We shall cast upon you a Weighty Word. 5 Surely in the watches of the night the soul is most receptive and words more telling. 6 During the day, you are preoccupied with many activities. 7 Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Lord of the eastern and western regions, with due sincerity. 8 The Sustainer of the east and the west [is He]: there is no deity save Him: hence, ascribe to Him alone the power to determine thy fate, 9 And be patient (O Muhammad SAW) with what they say, and keep away from them in a good way. 10 And leave Me Alone to deal with the beliers (those who deny My Verses, etc.), and those who are in possession of good things of life. And give them respite for a little while. 11 With Us are Fetters (to bind them), and a Fire (to burn them), 12 And a food that choketh and a torment afflictive. 13 On that day, the earth and the mountains will be violently shaken, and the mountains will be turned into heaps of moving sand. 14 Lo! We have sent unto you a messenger as witness against you, even as We sent unto Pharaoh a messenger. 15 and Pharaoh rebelled against the apostle, whereupon We took him to task with a crushing grip. 16 How then, if you disbelieve, will you preserve yourselves on the day which will even turn the children hoary? 17 The very heaven being then rent asunder. His promise is to be fulfilled. 18 Lo! This is a Reminder. Let him who will, then, choose a way unto his Lord. 19
