Nay, by the Moon 32 By the night when it departs. 33 And the daybreak when it shines; 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 A warning to mankind, 36 whether one steps forward to embrace the faith or one turns away from it. 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 Save those who will stand on the right hand. 39 who in their gardens will be enquiring 40 About the guilty: 41 "What was it that brought you to Hell?" 42 They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer their Salat (prayers) 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 “And used to dwell on evil matters with those who think evilly.” 45 And we used to deny the Day of Recompense 46 Till death overtook us. 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 So what is the matter with them that they turn away from the advice? 49 As if they were alarmed donkeys 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Indeed, everyone of them desires to have sheets of revelations unfolded before them -- 52 No! They do not fear the Hereafter -- 53 but this is truly a reminder. 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
