Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 and by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Does man imagine that We will not be able to bring his bones together again? 3 Indeed yes, We are able to shape his fingerstips yet again! 4 Rather, the human desires to continue in his immorality, 5 He asketh: When will be this Day of Resurrection? 6 But when the sight is dazed 7 and the moon is darkened, 8 And the sun and moon are joined together,- 9 That Day will Man say: "Where is the refuge?" 10 But nay: no refuge [for thee, O man]! 11 On that day, the station is only towards your Lord. 12 That Day will Man be told (all) that he put forward, and all that he put back. 13 Nay! Man will be a witness against himself [as his body parts (skin, hands, legs, etc.) will speak about his deeds]. 14 even though he offer his excuses. 15 Move not thy tongue concerning the (Qur'an) to make haste therewith. 16 Surely it is for Us to have you commit it to memory and to recite it. 17 Thus, when We recite it, follow thou its wording [with all thy mind]: 18 and then, behold, it will be for Us to make its meaning clear. 19 Truly, you love immediate gain 20 and leave be the Hereafter. 21 [Some] faces, that Day, will be radiant, 22 Waiting for their Lord. 23 and some faces will on that Day be overcast with despair, 24 Knowing that they will be subjected to a torment that breaks the backs. 25 But when [man's soul] reaches the throat, 26 And they will say, “Is there any one any magician?” 27 And he bethinketh that it is the time of parting. 28 and leg is intertwined with leg, 29 On that day, the herding will be only towards your Lord. 30
