He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 And he fears, 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and grass, 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
