The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
