Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Say (O Muhammad): It is revealed unto me that a company of the Jinn gave ear, and they said: Lo! we have heard a marvellous Qur'an, 1 It guides to the right course, and we have believed in it. And we will never associate with our Lord anyone. 2 Exalted is the glory of our Lord; He has neither wife nor son. 3 The dimwit one (the devil) among us has been telling confused lies about God. 4 We had in fact thought that men and jinns would never speak a lie about God, 5 And there were men from mankind who sought refuge in men from the jinn, so they [only] increased them in burden. 6 'And they (came to) think as ye thought, that Allah would not raise up any one (to Judgment). 7 We sought to reach heaven, but found it filled with strong guards and flames -- 8 and that “we would take up stations in the heaven to try to hear but anyone who now attempts to listen finds a shooting meteor in wait for him”; 9 'And we know not whether evil is intended for those on earth, or whether their Lord intends for them a Right Path. 10 ‘And among us some are virtuous and some are the other type; we are split into several branches.’ 11 We have realized that we could never thwart God on earth and that we would never be able to thwart Him by flight. 12 When we heard the guidance, we believed in it; and whosoever believes in his Lord, he shall fear neither paltriness nor vileness. 13 "'Yet [it is true] that among us are such as have surrendered themselves to God - just as there are among us such as have abandoned themselves to wrongdoing. Now as for those who surrender themselves to Him - it is they that have attained to consciousness of what is right; 14 ‘And as for the unjust they are the fuel of hell.’” 15 If they had followed the right path, We would have provided them with abundant rain -- 16 that We might try them therein. And whosoever turns away from the Remembrance of his Lord, He will thrust him into chastisement rigorous. 17 All the parts of the body to be placed on the ground during prostration belong to God. 18 And when the slave of Allah stood up in prayer to Him, they crowded on him, almost stifling. 19
