I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 by the retreating night, 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 Verily it is one of the greatest woes. 35 a warning to mortal man 36 Unto him of you who will advance or hang back. 37 Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, 38 Except those on the right side. 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 Of evil-doers: 41 'What thrusted you into Sakar?' 42 They said, “We never used to offer the prayer.” 43 Nor did we used to feed the poor. 44 And we have been wading with the waders. 45 and we gave the lie to the Day of Judgement 46 Till death overtook us. 47 So no intercession will avail them. 48 Why then do they turn away from the admonition 49 as if they were startled asses 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this is an admonition 54 So, whoever wills, will remember it. 55 But none will remember, unless Allah wills, He is the Owner of fear, the Owner of forgiveness. 56
