The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 what do you know what the night-visitor is? 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 And it is not a thing for amusement. 14 Indeed the disbelievers carry out their evil schemes. 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 Let, then, the deniers of the truth have their will: let them have their will for a little while. 17
