Do not the people who inherited the earth from the (earlier) inhabitants perceive that We could afflict them too for their sins if We pleased, and put seals on their hearts that they may not hear (the voice of truth)? 100 These were the (earlier) habitations whose accounts We have given to you. Their apostles came with clear proofs, but they did not believe what they once denied. That is how God seals the hearts of those who do not believe. 101 We did not find many of them faithful to their promises, and found many of them disobedient. 102 After those We sent forth Moses with Our signs to Pharaoh and his nobles, but they dealt with Our signs unjustly. Observe, then, what happened to the mischief-makers. 103 Moses said: O Pharaoh! Lo! I am a messenger from the Lord of the Worlds, 104 duty-bound to say nothing about God but the truth, and I have brought you a clear sign from your Lord. Let the Children of Israel go with me." 105 He answered: 'If you have come with a sign, show it to us if you are of the truthful' 106 So Moses threw down his staff and suddenly it turned into a real serpent. 107 And he drew forth his hand, and lo, it was white to the beholders. 108
