I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 That (Hell) is surely one of the greater (signs), 35 A warning to mortals, 36 A warning unto him of you who shall go forward or who chooseth to lag behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge against its own deeds, 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 Concerning the guilty: 41 “What drove you to Hell?” 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 nor did we feed the destitute. 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 "And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 Till death overtook us. 47 So the intercession of intercessors shall not avail them. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 like frightened donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 This will certainly never be the case! In fact, they are not afraid of the Day of Judgment. 53 No indeed; surely it is a Reminder; 54 so whoever wills shall remember it. 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56
