Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 By oath of this clear Book. 2 Indeed, We sent it down during a blessed night. Indeed, We were to warn [mankind]. 3 (We revealed it on the Night) wherein every matter is wisely determined 4 As commands from Us. It is indeed We who send (messengers), 5 A Mercy from your Lord, He is the Hearer, the Knower. 6 The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all between them, if ye (but) have an assured faith. 7 There is no god but He. He quickeneth and causeth to die: your Lord and Lord of your forefathers. 8 Yet they play about in doubt. 9 So watch for the day when the sky begins to emit clear smoke, 10 Covering the people, this shall be a torment afflictive. 11 (They will say): "Our Lord! Remove the torment from us, really we shall become believers!" 12 How can they benefit from admonition, seeing that a messenger had already come to them explaining things clearly? 13 but then they turned away from him, saying: 'He is tutored, mad' 14 We shall remove the torment for a while but you will revert to your old ways. 15 on the Day when We shall seize [all sinners] with a most mighty onslaught, We shall, verily, inflict Our retribution [on you as well]! 16 ۞ Indeed before that We subjected the Pharaonites to the same test. A noble Messenger came to them 17 Saying: Give up to me the slaves of Allah. Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you. 18 "And exalt not (yourselves) against Allah. Truly, I have come to you with a manifest authority. 19 And surely I take refuge with my Lord and your Lord that you should stone me to death: 20 'But if so be that you believe me not, go you apart from me!' 21 Then he cried out to his Lord, "These are sinful people." 22 We commanded him, “Journey with My bondmen in a part of the night – you will be pursued.” 23 "And leave the sea as it is (quiet and divided). Verily, They are a host to be drowned." 24 How many of gardens and springs do they [Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) people] left. 25 sown fields, and how noble a station, 26 And pleasant things wherein they took delight! 27 As such (it was). And We made other people inherit them. 28 Neither did the heavens weep for them, nor the earth, nor were they granted respite. 29
