The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Cloaked one, 1 Arise and warn! 2 and exalt your Lord, 3 thy robes purify 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 And for the good-will of thy Lord be thou patient. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 not an easy day for the unbelievers. 10 LEAVE Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 and designated for him ample wealth, 12 And sons dwelling in his presence, 13 And made life smooth and comfortable for him! 14 Then he desires that I should add more. 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 and woe to him; how he plotted! 19 May be then be accursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he looked around, 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 and he turned his back and behaved arrogantly 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 I shall surely roast him in Sakar; 26 And what could make thee conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; 28 It scorches people's skin 29 Over it are nineteen (angels guarding). 30 We have appointed none but angels as the keepers of the Fire, and We have not made their number but as a trial for the unbelievers so that those who have been endowed with the Book will be convinced and the believers' faith will increase, and neither those who have been endowed with the Book nor the believers will fall into any doubt. As for those in whose hearts there is a sickness as well as the unbelievers, they will say: “What did Allah aim at by this strange parable?” Thus does Allah let whomsoever He pleases to go astray, and directs whomsoever He pleases to the Right Way. And none knows the hosts of your Lord but He. (And Hell has only been mentioned here) that people may take heed. 31
