NAY, but consider the moon! 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 a warning to humans, 36 To any of you that chooses to press forward, or to follow behind;- 37 Every soul is held in pledge against its own deeds, 38 save the People of the Right Hand 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 concerning the sinners, 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 and they shall reply, "We were not among those who prayed; 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 "And we used to talk falsehood (all that which Allah hated) with vain talkers. 45 “And used to deny the Day of Justice.” 46 Till death overtook us. 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 like frightened donkeys 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 No indeed; each one of them desires that open letters be sent to each of them. 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 Nay! it is surely an admonition. 54 So, whoever wills may benefit from it. 55 But none will keep it in remembrance except as Allah wills: He is the Lord of Righteousness, and the Lord of Forgiveness. 56
