The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 - Ah, what will tell thee what the Morning Star is! 2 The very brightly shining star! 3 There is no soul which is not guarded (by the two angels who record all of its deeds). 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 and [man] will have neither strength nor helper! 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 this (Qur'an) is surely a decisive Word, 13 not a flippant jest. 14 Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth]; 15 but I too plan against them. 16 Let, then, the deniers of the truth have their will: let them have their will for a little while. 17
