In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 Created man from a clinging substance. 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 Have you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) seen him (i.e. Abu Jahl) who prevents, 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 or bade to godfearing -- 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
