A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Alif, Lam, Mim, Sad. 1 This is a Book revealed to you. Let there be no impediment in your heart about it. (It has been revealed to you) that you may thereby warn [the unbelievers], that it may be a reminder to the believers. 2 [Say (O Muhammad SAW) to these idolaters (pagan Arabs) of your folk:] Follow what has been sent down unto you from your Lord (the Quran and Prophet Muhammad's Sunnah), and follow not any Auliya' (protectors and helpers, etc. who order you to associate partners in worship with Allah), besides Him (Allah). Little do you remember! 3 How many cities have We destroyed! Our wrath struck their people at night or during their midday siesta. 4 Yet their cry, when Our punishment came to them, was nothing but that they said: Surely we were unjust. 5 We will certainly question the people and the Messengers sent to them. 6 We will tell them with absolute certainty (what they had done) for We had never been absent from them (during their lifetime). 7 The balance that day will be true (to nicety): those whose scale (of good) will be heavy, will prosper: 8 And those whose scales are light - they are the ones who will lose themselves for what injustice they were doing toward Our verses. 9 We have established you in the earth and there appointed for you livelihood; little thanks you show. 10
