The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 and serried acacias, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 and waters gushing, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
