Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Nay! I swear by the day of resurrection. 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching person (a believer). 2 Deemest man that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 Yea! WE are Able to put together evenly his finger-tips. 4 But man desires to persist in his evil ways. 5 He asks: When is the day of resurrection? 6 But [on that Day], when mortal sight is confounded, 7 the moon eclipsed. 8 And the sun and moon are conjoined, 9 Man shall say on that day: Whither to fly to? 10 Certainly not! There will be no place of refuge. 11 Upon that day the recourse shall be to thy Lord. 12 Man shall on that day be informed of what he sent before and (what he) put off. 13 Oh, but man is a telling witness against himself, 14 in spite of all the excuses he may offer. 15 Move not thy tongue with it to hasten it; 16 It's gathering and reciting is upon Us. 17 So, when We recite it, follow thou its recitation. 18 Then indeed, to explain its details to you is upon Us. 19 Nay, (ye men!) but ye love the fleeting life, 20 And leave the Hereafter. 21 Some faces, that Day, will beam (in brightness and beauty);- 22 Looking toward their Lord. 23 And on that day some faces will be ghastly. 24 Thou wilt know that some great disaster is about to fall on them. 25 Nay, when (the soul) reaches to the collar bone (i.e. up to the throat in its exit), 26 And it is said, "Who will cure [him]?" 27 And he (the dying person) will conclude that it was (the time) of departing (death); 28 when his legs are brought together [when affliction is combined with affliction]; 29 unto thy Lord that Day is the drive. 30
